The School and Community

The school has a  good relationship with the local community.  We have guest assembly visitors from local ministers and from the Interfaith Centre.  We provide displays of our children’s work in the local churches, library and other venues.

We have recently begun working with Clayton Parish Council and other local schools, and our own school council meets with other school councils to think of ways of improving the community.  We have been part of the linking schools project for a number of years.

We have strong sporting and academic links with our local secondary school who organise sports tournaments, science challenges and PSHCE activities especially for our children.

We are happy to encourage students from local upper schools and offer work experience opportunities to Year 10/11 pupils and from local colleges.

Other visitors include the road traffic patrol, the local police and fire officers, school nurse, theatre groups and musical ensembles, characters from history, drama workshops, science and maths workshops, and many more!

We encourage the children to be fund raisers for charity and as well as supporting national charity events, we choose at least one charity to support each year.

A local Karate School meets in our school hall twice a week. Dance classes are also held twice a week.  You may contact the school if you are interested in any of these activities.  Local scouts, guides, brownie and cub groups also meet in our school.
