Sporting Achievements

Welcome to Clayton Village's sporting achivements page. Here you can see how well our pupils are doing in the sporting environment. At CVPS our main goal is inclusion and enjoyment in terms of physical activity. We provide P.E as part of the children's weekly timetable whilst also offering them numerous other chances to become involved in sport aside from that in their curriculum.

From year 1 through to year 6 we run afterschool football clubs, we have two adults and six children who are play leaders operating at lunch time. These play leaders help teach the children correct practise while also teaching rules and regulations of each sport in question. They are primarily there to include and encourage our children to partake in a wide range of games/sports.

We also are part of a triad involving Clayton C of E and Keelham Primary School. This initiative has given us the opportunity to arrange inter school competitions targeting yet more children to take part in extracurricular sport.

We currently employ a health mentor who is working with year groups to try and build teamwork and attitude towards sport. Alongside this we also work with Thornton Grammar School's SGO (School Games Organiser) who too comes in once a week to work with different year groups in P.E.

As you may be aware we also try to attend as many competitions as possible. Over the last three years we have progressed from entering one team throughout the academic year to more recently entering 10+ teams  this year into competitions.

Our achievements through competitions this year are:

  • Become the only school in West Bradford to have a football team in each of the district finals involving U11 Boy's, U11 Girl's, U9 Boys(2) and U9 Girls
  • Qualify for Bradford finals U11 Girls Football (West Bradford runners up)
  • West Bradford Champions U9 Girls Football
  • Qualify for Bradford Finals U11 Sport Hall Athletic (West Bradford Runners up)
  • West Bradford Champions U9 Sports Hall Athletics
  • Compete in a Police initiative

With this page we aim to pass on our extensive portfolio of sporting attainment at CVPS, showcasing our children actively taking part in sport using pictures and information to keep you as parents and followers updated.
